As founder and head of SLAMY, Sheikh Osman Mohamed Gbessay has been the driving force behind the organization's humanitarian mission since 1991. He coordinated relief operations, youth programs, and international partnerships during Sierra Leone's most challenging period.
Sheikh Osman Mohamed Gbessay completed his Islamic studies in Saudi Arabia, where he developed a deep understanding of humanitarian principles in Islam. Upon witnessing the crisis in his homeland, he mobilized fellow Sierra Leonean students studying abroad to form SLAMY and provide organized relief to war-affected populations.

Supports the Director General in daily operations and serves as acting director when needed. Coordinates between different departments and ensures smooth organizational functioning.
Manages correspondence, reporting, documentation, and government liaison activities. Maintains organizational records and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
Manages organizational finances, budgeting, and financial reporting. Ensures transparent use of funds and maintains accountability to donors and stakeholders.
Handles media relations, public communications, and community outreach. Represents SLAMY in public forums and manages organizational visibility.
Represent various regions and communities within Sierra Leone. Ensure grassroots participation and feedback in organizational decision-making.
SLAMY has a large group of missionary students who completed academic studies in Saudi Arabia and other Arab states and returned home to contribute to the development of their motherland
Graduates from prestigious Islamic universities in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sudan, and other centers of Islamic learning across the Arab world.
Deep knowledge of Islamic theology, jurisprudence, Arabic language, and principles of humanitarian service in Islam.
