From its establishment in 1991, SLAMY implemented wide-ranging humanitarian and development programs aimed at alleviating the suffering of war-affected populations and strengthening Muslim youth capacity in Sierra Leone.

During the civil war, SLAMY distributed food items, clothing, prayer mats, Holy Qur'ans, and essential household supplies to displaced families and vulnerable communities. Emergency interventions intensified following major incidents such as the 1997 coup and the January 6th invasion of Freetown.
SLAMY provided essential drugs and medical supplies to clinics and hospitals. Notably, Le10,000,000 worth of drugs were donated to Connaught Hospital to support victims of the January 6th invasion.
Educational initiatives included the distribution of Islamic books to schools and institutions, leadership training programs, and a one-month Arabic Teachers' Training Programme conducted in Kenema for the Eastern Region.
In collaboration with partners, SLAMY supported Sierra Leonean refugees in Guinea with food assistance and financial aid. Between August and September 1998, the organization facilitated the repatriation of over 2,000 refugees from Conakry to Freetown.
